Using Free Articles for SEO

There are a number of places to get free article to add to your website in order to strengthen your SEO. However, you need to be careful. Google does not like to see a whole lot of articles that are all over the web. The articles you see on my blog page (page called SEO) are copied from free article sites, and the links to these can also be found in my links. From my experience, I am getting some hits from these, but I am getting significantly more from the few small articles I have written myself (for example google base, google local business google analytics etc. Even better still are the hits I am getting from a few comments I have made on other websites blogs. So I would say, you can’t take the easy way out, you have to make original content. Where other free articles are a valuable source of information for your readers, go for it, just don’t use too many free articles!! I will let you know how many hits I get from this article in 2 weeks time. Come back and have a look at the results!

Social Bookmarking Services – The Best Tagging Sites

Article By: Roger Preston

Social bookmarking has evolved into an SEO phenomenon from its simple origins. There was a time when bookmarking a site on your browser was enough. That was back when Internet Explorer was the de facto web browser. Then Mozilla began to challenge the monolith that IE was. That became a little troublesome, because now you would need to create two bookmarks for two different browsers. Then came the last straw – you could not access the bookmarks on your office computer from your home computer, and vice versa. To solve this problem, social bookmarking sites sprung up.

Social bookmarking sites are websites where you can bookmark your favorite sites. You can tag sites according to particular keywords. If you let other users see your bookmarks, they will also contribute tags to those sites. This way, particular website will have dozens of relevant tags submitted by users. And as more and more users visited these sites, guided by the tags, website owners sensed a marketing opportunity.

Now website owners hire experts who provide social bookmarking services. Social bookmarking services involve submission of site URLs to various social bookmarking websites with relevant tags. Because these sites, once featured on the social bookmarking site, will be indexed on search engines fairly quickly, social bookmarking services are often offered as part of SEO.

Social bookmarking services have a list of the best social bookmarking sites. Some of their favorites are listed here:

1. Del.icio.us
Definitely the pioneer as far as social bookmarking is concerned. Because the site is owned by Yahoo!, many of the tags here are used by the search engine giant for indexing web pages. No wonder this site remains a favorite with social bookmarking services. This site also has the largest number of users, increasing chances of drawing visitors to the sites that are bookmarked.

2. Furl
Furl is almost as old as Del.icio.us. This social bookmarking site is a user-friendly tool, which is why it is popular with social bookmarking services. You can sort bookmarks by date or tag. You can add relevant information apart from keywords to each bookmark.

3. Ma.gnolia
Ma.gnolia is a social bookmarking site that allows users to rate bookmarks, tag them, and edit them. You can also search bookmarks like keywords on a search engine. One advantage of using this social bookmarking site is that the site saves the current webpage when you add a bookmark. This feature draws more visitors to site. No wonder social bookmarking services love this feature!

4. Bluedot
Bluedot is more like a combination of social networking and social bookmarking. Users create a profile, adding information about themselves. They bookmark their favorite sites. And then invite other people to create profiles and bookmarks on the site.

4. Simpy
Simpy offers social bookmarking that involves the entire community. This networking between community members is a feature that social bookmarking services love to exploit. After all, a site recommended by a member of a close-knit online community carries more weight than a random website.

5. Google Bookmarks
Many people use this tool because it easy to migrate to if you have a Gmail account. This tool has many advantages, its easy user interface being one.

Now that you know the best tagging sites for your website, you can ask social bookmarking services to start submitting your site. Within a week, you will see great results.

Which Website is the Best for Link Exchange?

Criteria of Exchanging Link What criteria and tips we should use while exchanging links with other websites?

#1- Quality of Inbound Links : Notice that the quality of incoming links is important. Sometimes 10 well trusted links have more value than 100 less impressive links.

#2- Relevant Websites : Exchange links with relevant websites. Google and other Search Engine Robots give a lot of weight to relevancy.

#3- Fewer Outbound Links : Pay attention to the number of links on the webpage. Exchange links with pages that have fewer than 25 outbound links, because page rank of the page will be divided among outbound links. For example link from a webpage with only 5 outbound links is more valuable than a link from the same webpage with 10 outbound links.

#4- Link at the main page : Make sure that the website you want to exchange link has been a link at the main page to link page directory. It causes a higher page rank and traffic for link page directory.

#5- Categorized Link Directory : It is better that they categorize their directory, some websites don’t categorize their links and getting traffic from these sites is a few.

#6- Content Pages : A link on the bottom of a good content page is always better value than a link on a directory page as more people are likely to click on it.

On-page Optimization is the Key of a successful SEO Strategy

On-page optimization (or website optimization) is what you do on your pages to make them attractive for search engines. On-Page factors are related directly to the content and structure of the website.

Off-page optimization is what you do to increase page rank and link popularity. The goal of Off-page optimization is inbound links.

SEO experts say off-page optimization is more important than on-page optimization because with off-page optimization you can improve your page rank and link popularity; I agree, but I believe that the key is on-page optimization or the key is quality of your website.

Why do I think that On-page optimization is the key?

The goal of off-page optimization is inbound links. Now if you do on-page optimization very well, there are so many eager webmasters that want to exchange link with you.

On-page optimization is important because you should try to write a relevant text to a topic and make a trustworthy and valid web site for search engines.

If you design a quality website and do on-page optimization well, many websites link to your site for free.

How to write a relevant text?

In my idea for writing a relevant text at first you should limit your thought to a specific topic. So search in your mind to find a specific and relevant topic then do keyword research. For example writing about “search engine optimization” is a general topic, but writing about “MSN optimization” is very better.

Sometimes people focus so much on SEO that they forget their visitors. Notice that the first aim is to satisfy visitors. If you do this, search engines always attention to your website, because search engines provide their result to satisfy their searchers.

On-page optimization (website optimization) can be divided into two branches; factors that depend to the structure of website and factors that depend to content you write.

Google Analytics and WordPress.com

Can anyone tell me, can you set the Google analytics code in wordpress.com sites? If so, how?

WordPress and Google

WordPress is easy-to-use it is also great for Search Engines, particularly Google. Google has confirmed that it rates WordPress highly hence all WordPress websites have the early advantage. The WordPress Content Management System is also highly regarded throughout the world.

Anchor Text Optimization

Anchor text is the visible text showing in a link. In a normally built site, anchor text is usually used to indicate the subject and title of the page that it links to. Search engines put a very big importance on Anchor texts.

Keywords in anchor text enhance the relevance of the target page pertaining to the keywords used.

A mistake some newbies make is to put their website name into the Anchor Text. It is good if your domain contains your keywords, but if not, it is a waste of a perfectly good link. Many web sites no longer ranking because they use their official company name in Anchor Text.

Vary your text throughout your links

Some webmasters have often focused on a single keyword phrase when choosing anchor text, it is important to understand how sites get penalized for having unnatural backlink anchor text.

A site with organic, passively-obtained backlinks will have a wide variety of backlink anchor text variations such as: “official site title”, “keyword”, “keyword synonym”, “www.your-domain.com” and even “click here”. People often link to you using the words in your domain name as the link text, so try to vary and combine your keyword throughout your links.

Foe example if your keyword is “laptop” you can use these phrases into anchor text: “cheep laptop”, “best laptop”, or even “notebook”.

Use Anchor Text within your site

A common mistake webmasters make is to use common words like “here” instead of content related keywords  within their site. Don’t forget to use anchor text when link pages of your site each other.
